Bill's blog. Writing, guitars, gratuitous Simpsons references, you'll find it all here. Almost certainly a waste of time for both you and the author. On the internet, that's actually a plus.

Guitar-building project status update

I haven't had much time to work on my guitar-building project lately, but I was able to do a bit over the weekend. Here's how it looks with a neck.

Here's the neck pocket I routed out. I'm not much of a luthier (or especially skilled in woodworking in general), so I was pretty scared I was going to wreck the whole project right here. It was far from flawless, but it's good enough. The neck sits pretty tight, too, if I shim it with some cardboard from a twelve-pack of Coke Zero. Now I can tell my wife my soda addiction is beneficial!

My new project

My new non-writing creative project.

I don't do anything fast except type, so it'll probably be a while before I'm done. It's a lot of fun to work on, though. I'll be sure to show the finished project when it's done. It might even be playable! (fingers crossed)

Treehouse update

I built a treehouse in my backyard. Take a look!

Homemade PVC bike rack

My two boys and I built a bike rack out of PVC pipe. We used a design I found online, got some supplies at Home Depot, and got to work.

It cost about $45 in parts, some of which I can get back because I didn't end up using the PVC cement. It was a fun project and really uncluttered our porch.

The hardest part: cutting all the pieces of pipe to the correct size. It's not especially difficult, just time consuming. Also, the PVC shavings that my saw made left a snowstorm on my porch. I tried to convince my wife it made the place look like a winter wonderland.
